How To Build a Weekend Reset Routine

Why Your Weekends Matter -

Weekends are often seen as a time to enjoy yourself, like relaxing, catching up on sleep, or even going out and having fun. As they should be. But it could also be the best time for making the rest of your week run smoothly. A routine for weekend resets isn't about turning your Saturday into a workday; it's about dedicating a small block of time to prepare your home, schedule, and mindset so you start your Monday like it's a Friday.

1. Choose a Dedicated Reset Day

Your weekend reset doesn't have to take up your whole day. In fact, 1-2 focused hours are enough. The key is consistently doing it. Choose a time like early morning Saturday, after breakfast, it's when most people have downtime. But by doing this at the same time each week, it becomes embedded in your head as a habit rather than a chore.

2. Quick Declutter

Clutter can often make your mind feel scattered and your home chaotic. I recommend spending 15-20 minutes daily tidying up specific areas. Starting with the living room, kitchen, and bedroom.

It doesn't have to be a deep clean, just enough so your home feels calm and ready for the week ahead.

3. Do A Load

Lundry has a way of creating that little mountain and creating unnecessary stress when you're trying to get ready for the week. Do it that day you decide you want to binge your favorite show.

Pro tip: Fold immediately and put away when done, so you can avoid that clean mountain on your bed.

4. Plan Ahead

Take 10-15 minutes to look at your weekly schedule and get a sense of what you have going on. Write down important stuff like deadlines and appointments. This helps you create a mental reminder so that you're not surprised on those busier days.

You can also take this time to create small goals you want to get done for the week.

5. Personal Time

Take time out of your weekend to spend on yourself. This helps boost your mental health. whether it's reading a book, working out, or listening to a podcast.

7. Now Let's Reflect

Your reset isn't just about preparing for your week; it's also a good time to reflect on what you could've done differently in the past. Take a few minutes before you set your goals to think about the week that just ended. What was good? What were your biggest accomplishments? Don't forget the small ones. Self-acknowledgement of your successes helps build a positive mindset.

Just remember what challenges you faced. Were there times when you felt things were particularly stressful or unproductive? Instead of pondering on these things, think about what you could have done differently. This isn't about self-criticism, it's about learning and growth. This simple practice helps you understand your bad habits, make adjustments, and approach the new week with more confidence..
